British-born Alexa Chung began modeling in London at age 16 and later graduated to TV work, eventually coming to New York in 2009 to host her own MTV show, It’s On With Alexa Chung. The show didn’t last long, but it turned Chung into a fashion-world darling, and she quickly became ubiquitous at fashion shows and parties. Known for her eclectic taste and ability to cobble together unexpected combinations like corduroy shorts over wool tights with open-toe shoes, she almost single-handedly kick-started trends like ombré-dyed hair and socks with sandals.
ALEXA CHUNG has unveiled the third collection from her eponymous brand, entitled "Fantastic" after one of the designer’s favourite slogan tees.
A celebration of the 1990s music scene and the Britpop culture that pervaded the UK, the clothes pay homage to the swagger of Oasis, the raillery of Blur and the gentlemanly wit of Pulp. There’s a mustard corduroy suit in salute to Jarvis Cocker, a striped orange and black jersey tee inspired by Graham Coxon and a petrol blue hooded parka reminiscent of a 1990s Kate Moss shot by Corinne Day.
